The Difference Engine

Learn more about your impact

Issues of social inequality, racism and economic disparity remain at the forefront of the most severe challenges facing America. The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified these issues' complexity and diminished many Americans' confidence and resources. The Difference Engine aims to directly impact communities by creating tangible and valuable products that reduce the effects of inequalities. When you support the Difference Engine at the ASU Center for the Future of Equality, you enable us to create tangible and valuable products that communities can use to help reduce the effects of inequality.

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.
  • Supporting the Difference Engine will help us support local communities in creating solutions to solve issues of inequality.
  • Donors have helped build the Women's Power and Influence Index by supporting a female-led team of paid student researchers, creating opportunities for student travel, and allowing them the opportunity to speak about their work at high-level events.

The reward in giving to ASU comes back time and time again. And it’s so great to be able to see what they do. They want to bless the lives of other people and improve the lives of other people."
